Windsurfing: felixstowe dip Wind Direction: sw Wind Stength: F3/4 Surf / Sea State: wave chop Air Temperature: warm Sea Temperature: warm Weather: sunny Max Speed: 23.1 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 12.4 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
Drop chores and planned day when HHA switched to Sw again against forecast.
It was blowing F5 on arrival with 5 sailors down. Sea was nice and not big
for high tide. Plug 6.7 he'll cat to HAWK 125 hoping for a nice blast. Alas
the wind eased. Had a few runs to get to know the bd but was underpowered.
An not greatly impressed with the Hawk. It felt heavy, sticky, despite the
bamboo light weight construction. Its not as free as my old jp 120. Went
thru the hell river 4 times underpowered out of straps which was not nice.
Maker was planing his light frame on a 115/6.0 all the time which was
annoying! He flew past me with that stupid grin! Ian and Andy sailing out
to sea planed all day. Squiz switched to 7.8 but decided to just switched
boards to a JP 146L /50 cm which did the trick. Had lots of nice runs but
couldn't get to the guys out to the sea, as not enough power. Had to
shorten the runs by gybing be 4 the river off the nice swells in front.
Gybe ratio was 90% but that's cos the conditions were easy. Really nice
day. Dehydrated again despite drinking a fair bit. Last day for the anti
biotic am taking for a chest infection, so hopefully will be fit soon.
